Perfect Pants
This week I have found myself feeling not quite myself. I'm feeling like a fat, frumpy mommy. I'm 28 years old and I feel like I look much older. I find I compare myself to other women and some of my friends and I want to look like them. As much as I love getting ready and feeling like I like good, I don't feel that I do. The other night I wore heels with jeans. What?!? It looks so cute when other moms do it, but the whole night I didn't feel confident enough to have pulled the look off. So instead of having a great night out with the girls, my mind kept wondering to my heels. I feel everyone else is put together, looking cute carrying their babes on their hips, holding the hand of a toddler and I'm just looking frumpy, dragging my kids behind me. Classy, I know.I need to find that perfect pant. You know the ones that are slimming in all the right spots. I want to feel cute and young again. I'm curvy, I know that. I won't ever wear cute form fitting items and I'm okay with that. What I'm not okay with is looking like a frumpy mom! I just don't know where to shop and what to look for. I tend to find a shirt I like and then get it all the colors. So, for those cute unfrumpy looking moms out there, please guide me in the right direction. Help me to find a style I can feel pretty in.

I am going through the same dilemma. You feel so unfashionable and odd looking.
I went shopping last week without the baby and it was easier to focus and find what I was looking for. I recommend a afternoon all alone. Then look around and try different stuff on.
My shopping philosophy is "If you don't love it, then don't buy it." Stick to that.
Okay I am a girl who LOVES jeans! I think the heels and jeans combo can look fantastic. The trick is finding a really great pair of jeans that fits your body.(they can be a little pricey...but totally worth it!) If you go to the Scottsdale jean co. they will measure you and find the jean with the perfect fit for you. Also, I think the tailoring really matters! Your jeans might need to be hemmed...this can make a HUGE difference. I like to spit the difference from heels and flats when getting them hemmed. It works the best for me. Then you can always pick up a few tops that will give your wardrobe just a quick pick me up! I like forever 21 and Urban Outfitters. You also have a loehman's in Phx. I would try it out...I LOVE that store...we don't have one here:( Forever Love in Scottsdale( I can't remember which mall there...sorry) always has really cheap acessories of the moment. It is a great store to pick up a few trendy items for cheap. I remember when headbands were super in they had then for a dollar! That always helps me when I am in my slump!...Hope it helps.
Tiff
go to Nordstrom...They have all the jeans you can find...I would say try on Paper Denim...They are for more of the girls with nice bodies and not skinny terds!! Or i would say BKE at Buckle!Bytheway...what is that picture of Troy and I on your blog. I swear that is the worst picture of me...I'll remember that so you'll be put on my blog in a bad picture too!! Pay backs stink!!!
Well i'm not sure if I fit into this category yet and I don't think you do but I would say the more you spend the better they are. I'm not saying spend like $300 but definitely spend more than $30. The jeans that I spent the most on are my favorite. Go to department stores, like Nordstroms. Or take me shopping and I will find you a cute pair. Seriously, most of Shawna's cute clothes, compliments of me, lol. I think I should become a personal/professional shopper for people.:)
Stiffy! You are hired! When can we go? I'll make time when you have time.
I LOVE the high heels and jeans thing. I think I just love heels! Have you tried American Eagle's jeans? Chelsea turned me on to those after having Bradon. I'm not much help really. I just got out of maternity clothes. We all know how "fashionable" those are!
I'm sure you looked hot Kasey- I always love the darkest wash possible- and Gap long and lean are nice :)
Aw Kasey, we all feel that way sometimes. My only advice is that I LOVE trouser jeans, and the longer the shirt the skinnier you look. Also a lower V-neck or scoop neck helps to create length in the torso and a thin look. I've been so busy this week, I'm sorry! Do you want to do lunch next Thursday? And I WONT forget! :)
Or Tuesday even, either or.
I think that you look fabulous! I have a similar body type to you and I have to agree with some of the other comments...from my experience the pricier the nicer! Don't feel bad spending $100 or so on a nice pair that you can feel great in! Buckle does have some awesome styles of jeans! As for the tops, Forever 21 all the way, as well as accessories. Don't take the kids with you...that way you don't have to rush!
Hey girl I hear ya. My little sis finally hooked me up with some cute jeans from Last Chance. Designer jeans at Target prices. I have loved them and want more but it is hit and miss there and for us busy mom's we dont' have the time to keep trying over and over. I also feel you look beautiful and you are being too hard on yourself. I think too often too many of us get caught up in all of that and forget that we are beautiful no matter what we are wearing and you should cut yourself some slack. I find focusing on my inner strengths and serving others (even family members) helps me get out of a slump and feel better about myself. However, sometimes a good pair of jeans does just the trick too. Just don't get too wrapped up in it and stay positive about yourself. Love ya and you are a beautiful person inside and out.
I don't believe you...I think you always look so nice (on your blog), maybe someday I will see you in real life:) We all feel like how you feel every now and then...new jeans and a few new tops usually do the trick! I LOVE Buckle jeans...that about all I buy. I don't mind spending $100 on jeans because I wear them EVERY DAY (sick). And they have great tops there too...I also like Forever 21 (cute, cheap accessories) I even love Tilleys for some great Tees. Good luck and remember you are BEAUTIFUL!
I also like Buckle. They will hem them for free. Try big star jeans there. They always make me feel good about the way I look. They will run you about $100 there... but they last forever!
I totally agree on the Forever 21 for the tops thing. There is also a store in VF Factory outlet (yes - I said VF Factory outlet) called Rue 21 (its definitely Rue - but I'm not sure about the 21 part). It has cute shirts and stuff - cheap! It's worth a shot, but it can also be hit or miss.
Have fun! Oh - and what's this about Heidi getting married? I totally missed that one.
WoW! This was a fun post to read...I Love all the comments on jeans (and heels)! i honestly wasn't sure if I was pulling a fashion "no no" wearing my heels with jeans. Please, you actually get ready for your hubby...I need to learn from you! Kacey you'll find the perfect jeans...and when you do IF the are not super expensive...I want to know where you found them! Until then...I going to some of the stores mentioned above! :)I want some cute jeans too!
If you find some, and you don't spend a month's house payment on them, be sure to put it on the blog. I just wanna find a pair that's NOT low or mid rise so my tummy doesn't flow over the edge. I hate getting old...
Okay, this is so not a sales pitch, but I LOVE my Modbe jeans. They're cut a little higher in the back so your undies don't hang out and they're super cute AND comfy.
If you ever want to try a pair on, let me know :)
Don't we all feel that way sometimes? I loved reading all the comments because I never know where to shop I always feel like I'm too old to be shopping in stores like Forever 21 and Buckle especially when I have to drag my FOUR kids with me. So I'm glad to know othere people with kids shop there too.
Hey Kasey! I always think you look cute whenever I see you! But I do absolutely love the jeans and heels look! I used to wear that on Fridays at my work, I always loved wearing heels. I also found my favorite pair of jeans at Last Chance; they were Seven jeans and they really fit me nice.
I didn't even read all the comments, but the store that I have recently found that I love their jeans and they have totally cute shits and stuff is Torrid. Is sounds trashy, and i thought it was for a while, until I gave it a chance. Spend a few hours and go with your mom and a friend so you can try, try, try. I love all my things from there and now that I know what fits me, I find myself going back for come other things as well.
