Childhood Dreams

Recently my Aunt Darla's, Steve was diagnosed with cancer. He's been doing Chemo and it's been rough. He has been posting to an online journal of sorts so we can all stay involved in his treatment and how he's doing day to day. My Grandpa proposed this in one of his recent comments:

"Let each one of us share a "Childhood Dream". It may give us all a laugh and we will get to know all better and may give Steve and Darla a giggle!"

Steve said this is his last posting:

"I really am tired of concentrating on the disease, the drugs, the blood draws, etc.... Having something to laugh about is probably the best medicine for me (and for the rest of you). We have to look around and realize that everything changes, everything is here today and gone the next. We have to make the best of every day and enjoy ourselves."

I thought it was a great idea because it's good to remember what it was like to dream. This was mine:

"My childhood dream was to be a singer. I got that chance last night. Todd came in last night and was scared. He wanted me to sing to him. So I did. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Wheels on the Bus were just what he needed to fall back asleep. I always dreamed of the big stage, but singing to my guy snuggled up on his tiny bed really is all I ever dreamed of."

It's important to remember the good things when life gets tough. It helps us look to family and friends and to not be sad about things we can't control. So let's hear them. What are your dreams?

One of my childhood dreams was to meet Paula Abdul. I just loved her music and would listen to it as I went to bed. After watching American Idol I decided that I don't think I want to meet that crazy lady! :) I just laugh at it now.

OH BOY, I was a BIG dreamer. Although being a Mommy was always #1, I used to pretend I was an FBI agent and I REALLY got into it. I thought I was the badest, toughest agent out there and couldn't wait until I was older and could do it with the Pros:). Who knows, maybe I will be someday, haha?

I wanted to be a veterinarian. Until I went with our sick cat and I saw where they stick their fingers. It ended then and there.

I also had a park ranger phase. I'm glad it was just a phase.

My childhood dream was to be an ice skater or a gymnast in the olympics. It's awesome to be the biggest star to our kids, we are all they need :) I hope the chemo is going good, my sister had Thyroid cancer and it was so stressful and sad, my heart and prayers are with him.

My dream was to be Jay Leno! It's not that I think I'm funny, I just want his job. I would love to make fun of people and get paid for it!! I know, stupid but I still want to be Jay Leno but even more I want to be ON Jay Leno. I want to walk across the stage and wave at the audience and wear really cute clothes that no one else has! Yep! I'm pretty lame...Troy makes fun of me all the time!! But hey, it's a dream of mine!! I also want to play the violin in an orchestra! That is a big dream of mine!

I wrote in my journal in fourth grade that I wanted to be the first girl in the NBA. Wow, now they have the WNBA. I do not wish that anymore. NOW, I am living my dream!
