Listen up people!

I have a whole monologue of what I want to say and how I feel about the subject of education, but it's just not coming to me. I'm pretty upset that in order to free up some money within the state they have decided the best place to cut back is education. Teachers, copies, specials...you name it they are cutting it. Hello people! The future of American is sitting in our classrooms. Seriously, is this really what they world is coming to? The last place the budget should be cut is education. Our children deserve the best, don't they? Just today my sons teacher told me she could not give me a copy of the word wall words because of budget cuts. This is the same reason she no longer sends homework home. Budget cuts. What's next people? No TP in the bathrooms? I already donate time and money to the school. My tax dollars should be hard at work, but I'm afraid they are being used else where. More important places like the prisons. Cause they need college educations, nice warm meals, TV's and weights rooms. They deserve PBJ's on a hamburger bun like the free meals at the schools. Okay, I'm done.
On a completely unrelated side note I can't stand this blog! Yet every so often I find myself looking at it and then wanting to poke my eyeballs out. If you enjoy it, there are no hard feelings.

I completley agree with you about the budget cuts. I saw one school in Phoenix that had "No Money, Please Donate Supplies" up on the marquee in front of the school. It worked, people donated.

OMG I hear ya on this one! Every class my edu teacher tells us all about how stupid the goverment is to cut education in a state that ranks almost last!

I HATE, HATE, HATE the 'Seriously so blessed' blog too! I always want to leave rude comments!!! BLAH!

I agree with you on the school thing too! What in the hell are these people thinking! I don't even have kids in school yet either. Our kids DESERVE to have the very best in their education! You said it perfectly!

I completely agree. Education is TOTALLY the future and it's so sad to see that it's always the first thing to be cut. Talk about ridiculous.

And, you know Seriously, So Blessed is a joke right? Have you read the sidebar? The satire is hilarious, in my opinion, and sometimes it makes me laugh so hard I seriously cry.

I agree! Our nation has serious problems!

Its not just affecting regular education, it is affecting special education. Music Therapists have just had their pay cut by over 55%. These are people with Masters degrees and they are now being forced to work for regular habilitation hours which hover right around ten dollars an hour.

I could keep going about the cuts to kids with disabilities, but I really dont want to start my day angry. Don't even get me started on kids with disabilites under the age of three. They have basically lost EVERYTHING.

Seriously - it is completely upside down.

side note: I used to read TAMN, now I just think its completely annoying and very stereotypical.

I wrote a scathing letter to the entire Arizona legislature, even though I'm not even down there. Cuz it's that big of a deal. And guess what - all the Republicans that bothered to write back just told me that they would try to find another way while *all* the Democrats wrote back saying that they would absolutely find another way. And then the Democrats wrote me again in anger because every Republican voted to pass the budget cut. Sad story.

I have a love/hate relationship with "seriously so blessed" because I know people who are like that. It hurts to read, but I'm always wearing an ironic smile while I read it.

Soon we will be like Europe where education isn't free for anybody. And they all wear uniforms. Maybe boarding school would be cool? Or not...

Tay, I'm actually down with uniforms. Less hassel for me when my kid fights me everyday on what he wants to wear and what he doesn't like. It gets old day after day! Uniforms sound much more inviting if they have to wear the same thing everyday. No fight. Done. Mama likes it!

You have to understand the budget in AZ to understand the cuts. Yes, it is cutting education and yes we are ranked lowest in the state for spending per pupil, but 90% of the AZ budget goes to education. It's impossible to say let's cut the budget and not touch that huge portion that goes to education. I hate the cuts, but I am a fiscal conservative and against a tax hike as well. You have to be careful who you talk to you about this issue. It's not as cut and dry as it seems. I would like to say that one side is wrong and the other is right, but the truth is, both parties are wrong here. Education needs to be reformatted anyway. I am tired of teaching kids who fail the class 3 times and still get to take up time, space, and money. The parents need to step up and the kids need to step up and then maybe education would be better. Then you get into illegal immigration, and a whole slew of other isssues...it's a touchy one, for sure.

I peeked at seriously so blessed and I agree - seriously annoying. There is no possible way that the most recent post is even true - how could you possibly look like that with twins at 36 weeks... If she really is, then I'm super jealous because I'm only having one and I'm twice that big... SAD.

Hey Kasey! This has nothing to do with your post, even though I do agree with you about them cutting education, but I was wondering how under the blogs you check how to show when someone has posted. Could you comment on my blog ryantiffanycooper.blogspot.com and tell me how!! Thanks Tiffany

Parents like you are few and far between. That is another argument for school vouchers. The more the government is in control of education, the more parents like you will suffer for the crappy parents of others. P.S. I missed your call yesterday...did you need something?

I hate thinking about the education cuts! It makes me sick to my stomach! Hey at least we'll be in Mexico in two days! :)

One note on the ed cuts, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the state hasn't actually stopped the money flow yet (that doesn't mean districts haven't) so it's pretty overreactive & propaganda that schools have been saying they can't do stuff right now because of cuts. Just a thought. Also, I agree with what Becca Martin wrote. And I taught school. But I see irresponsible parents & poor management of money schools already have as a bigger problems than budget cuts. Just my two-cents.

But I DO agree that education is important & we need to get the non-interested parents & not-so-qualified teachers to realize that they are affecting the future of our entire country! Well, I guess I should go off on my own blog ;)
