First Day

 The chickens started school today.
Kylee wanted her hair in piggy tails and Todd cried forever
last night because he hates his short hair cut.
I think they are both cute!
 Todd is starting 3rd grade.
 Kylee is starting 1st.
They are both excited and have good friends
in their classes this year.
As for me I'm going to be super busy with a few
babysitting kids and a full preschool.
Let the crazy begin!

School Pics 2010

I think their school pictures turned out mighty cute!
Though they were expensive, I say it was money well spent!
On an un-related side note, does someone want to make this for me?
It's a lovely breakfast dish that I just don't have the energy to make right now.
Check it out.
Everything in this recipe blog is seriously delish!

1st Day

They picked out their own outfits and couldn't have been any cuter!
They were excited as could be!
And I'm now kidless...well, for 7 more weeks that is!

Preschool

Yesterday Kylee headed off to preschool.

Since Todd started several weeks ago, she's been asking when she gets to go to her school.
She just wants to be like her big brother.

She had fun making her"womans", playing with her friends and writing letters.
She had so much fun in fact, I had to drag her out kicking and screaming.
It wasn't pretty.
Thanks Mrs. Shannon!
It's sure to be an eventful year.

Happy Days are Here Again!

Remember this?
This year Todd went right through the school gates without a care in the world!

Kylee grabbed her backpack too.
She can't wait till next year.
Secretly, I can't wait either!
No kids all day will be heaven.

"Come on mom! Be done already!"

I bought him a new backpack, but he insisted on his old one from last year.
So, the old backpack returned with him!
He's been asking me when he's going back to school.
I think he was just excited to bring his lunch box and eat at school.
There will be no hot lunches for us!
Not because I don't enjoy a good hot lunch, but he won't eat anything on the menu!
So, we'll be brown baggin'.
Probably less expensive too and you know how I like to pinch my pennies.

He was mostly excited to see his best buddy Cade.
I was just excited to not do the kindergarten half day pickup again.
Last year was brutal that way.
Another year is underway.
When did I get old enough to have a 1st grader?

(Dumb) School Carnival

Todd's school did a carnival fund raiser.
Did I mention it was dumb?
Do I sound bitter that I had to go?
But these two sure were cute!
Like how Todd is squishing Kylee's face?

So,
we paid money to bounce...

play hot potato...

ring toss and a chance to dunk your teacher in the dunk tank.
The kids had the most fun playing at the playground.
Todd pushed Kylee while I watched.
I don't know about anyone else, but of all the motherly things I truly hate
pushing my kids on the swings is up there with potty training!
Can someone please tell me what this swing is all about?
So, yeah, I took my kids to the lame-o school carnival.
They didn't win anything, kids were running around like
crazies, cutting in line, there was no where to sit.
I was done 10 minutes into it. We stayed an hour.
But, I did my duty. It was for a good cause.
I could so go a whole year without going to another!
Thank goodness there is only 2 more weeks of school!

Listen up people!

I have a whole monologue of what I want to say and how I feel about the subject of education, but it's just not coming to me. I'm pretty upset that in order to free up some money within the state they have decided the best place to cut back is education. Teachers, copies, specials...you name it they are cutting it. Hello people! The future of American is sitting in our classrooms. Seriously, is this really what they world is coming to? The last place the budget should be cut is education. Our children deserve the best, don't they? Just today my sons teacher told me she could not give me a copy of the word wall words because of budget cuts. This is the same reason she no longer sends homework home. Budget cuts. What's next people? No TP in the bathrooms? I already donate time and money to the school. My tax dollars should be hard at work, but I'm afraid they are being used else where. More important places like the prisons. Cause they need college educations, nice warm meals, TV's and weights rooms. They deserve PBJ's on a hamburger bun like the free meals at the schools. Okay, I'm done.
On a completely unrelated side note I can't stand this blog! Yet every so often I find myself looking at it and then wanting to poke my eyeballs out. If you enjoy it, there are no hard feelings.

Almost There

One thing I didn't do before having kids was get my degree. I finished a few classes at EA and then a few more at MCC, got married, took a few more classes at MCC, then had Todd. I tried to take more after he was born and while I was pregnant with Kylee but my heart just wasn't in it. When Rocky started working for University of Phoenix they had just started on online teaching degree. I knew I had to take this opportunity, so I started taking classes in 2005. I thought I would never see the end! This week I started 2 more classes. 2 of my last 5! I can't believe the end is here! I'm almost done. Finishing my degree has been a dream for a long time and it's finally becoming a true reality.

Life as I know it is No Longer

As I lay snuggled in my bed till 9am with my midgets this morning I realized these days are long gone starting Monday. My baby boy starts Kindergarten. I'm really okay with this. Hanging out with my Kylee for a bit while he's at school sounds fun. Todd got two whole years with just me and she has gotten none. But, I'm not a morning person at all! Don't worry, I'm up at 7am, but I'm not ready to be walking out the door taking my kids to school. We like to turn on cartoons and lay around eating cold cereal right out of the box for a little while.

School? I have a kid that's going to school? What?!?! I still feel like he should be 3, but Kylee's 3. And I feel like she's 1. Where has all the time gone?!? I feel like I woke up yesterday and I was buying backpacks, lunch boxes and new school clothes. Oh yeah, I was! He's so excited for his new shoes and his cool backpack that I bought at Wal-Mart for $5. Shh, don't tell. But, on Monday he's going to cry which is going to make me cry. I'll be standing there in the parking lot balling like a baby trying to pry him off of me like a leach. Maybe he'll surprise me and walk right in, but I'm so not counting on it. He totally cried when I took him to Primary a few weeks ago. I'm so not ready for this, but at the same time I am. Ok, maybe I'm not ready for this whole kindergarten thing. Any advise?
